explained is of course UPANISHAD itself. The traditional etymology is upa-ni-sad,
to be seated at the feet of the master and to receive his instruction. However, the
instruction received at the master's feet is not just any kind of instruction. When 'upanishad'
is mentioned in the sacred texts, it always refers to teaching that is secret, hidden,--
indeed, esoteric. Careful study has led the French Indologist, L. Renou, to recognize that
this secret teaching of upanishad is the disclosure of certain 'correspondences'
which are not perceptible at the mental level (the realm of manas), but whith a
particularly acute buddhi (intelligence of intuition) can discern." ABHISHIKTANANDA,

demande explication est naturellement celui de Upanishad lui-même. L'étymologie
traditionnelle est : upa - ni - shad , être assis aux pieds du Maître et
recevoir son enseignement. Cependant cet enseignement reçu aux pieds du Maître, n'est
pas n'importe quel enseignement. Quand il est question d' Upanishad dans les
textes sacrés, il s'agit toujours d'un enseignement secret, caché, voire ésotérique.
Une étude plus attentive a conduit l'indianiste français Louis Renou à reconnaître
dans cet enseignement secret des Upanishad, l'enseignement de certaines
"corrélations" qui ne sont pas perceptibles au niveau mental - le domaine du manas
- qu'une intuition, une intelligence particulièrement pénétrante - buddhi -
